Will it hurt?

2009
Multimedia interactive installation

Will it hurt? took place for five hours at 15 Minute Factory (30th of May 2009). Will it hurt?, comprised of eight performers, audience participation, and interactive video and sound. The eight performers took up various roles; interviewing the audience with a microphone which was connected to a mixer, these sounds were mixed live by another performer - with electro-magnetic sound recordings taken from the miniature video cameras, projectors, television, laptops and cables used in the installation . The performer with the microphone also relayed the interviews taken with the audience to a performer on a laptop - who typed the interviews, the text was projected onto the wall alonside the other visuals. There was also a performer manipulating a miniature camera infront of a television which showed the live feed from their miniature video camera. There were two miniature cameras which two other performers dressed audience participants with, the live feeds from these cameras were projected onto a wall. Participants were invited to interact with all the performers and technological apparatus throughout the duration of the artwork. This artwork sought to interrogate the symbiotic relationship between the technological apparatus and subject interaction, vis a vis - man and machine.
